New COVID-19 cases again drop below 500-mark in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health on Thursday detected 498 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 331,857 so far, the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also said that 30 more people have died from the complications caused by the virus in the past 24 hours, taking the Kingdom’s death toll to 4,599.

Meanwhile, 1,007 infected patients have fully recovered from the deadly disease, pushing the total number of recoveries to 314,793, with the recovery rate hitting 94.85 percent, according to the ministry.

With the drop in new infections in the past few days, active cases have also fallen significantly with 12,465 being reported on Thursday, out of which 1,090 are critical.

Jeddah reported the highest daily cases with 53, followed by Hafouf with 50 cases, and Makkah with 46. The remaining cases were detected in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom.
