MAKKAH — Minister of Labor and Social Development Ahmed Al-Rajhi has approved the implementation of the charter against workplace harassment.
According to the 12-point charter, the harassment constitutes any action, deed, word or sign with sexual implications in the workplace by any means including social media tools.
Article 12 says these sexual connotations will be considered harassment whether they take place inside the workplace during the working hours or outside of it.
It said the charter would be implemented against managers, senior officials or any other people related to the ministry against the trainees or job seekers.
Article 4 calls for avoiding gender mixing in the ministry’s offices and government departments as much as possible so as not to lead to harassment.
Article 5 says when a male employee meets with a woman colleague in his office, he should keep the door open so that other people will be able to see them.
Article 6 says men and women employees should never discuss personal matters seriously or jokingly and asked women staff to be modest in their dress.
