RIYADH
— Saudi Border Guards saved three sailors in two separate water rescues in Madinah and Ras Tanurah in a week.

On Sunday, Border Guard patrols in the Eastern Province managed to help Verati 450, which was bound for Kuwait from the UAE, by providing assistance to two of its crew members, one a British national and the other an Indian, after the vessel lost all contacts with the shore.

In a statement, a Saudi Border Guard spokesman said: "The DMRCC received notification on the interruption of communication with the Kuwaiti-flagged Verati 450, which was sailing in the Arabian Gulf. Immediately the Border Guard search and rescue center identified the location of the vessel northeast of Ras Tanura, and the rescue was carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities.”

The spokesman said the Border Guard coordination center in Madinah region received an SOS on Thursday saying a 25-year-old Indian passenger of Ultimate Freedom, a ship coming from Panama, fell sick on board. The vessel was located 7 nautical miles northwest of Yanbu. A Border Guard team and a medical crew were to the ship to evaluate the situation and extend necessary help.
