JEDDAH – Jeddah Municipality has unveiled its calendar of events to mark Eid Al-Fitr holidays.

Dubbed “Your Eid is Our Eid,” the municipality’s festival program will feature an array of entertainment activities, including folklore and musical bands, cartoon characters and puppet shows, fireworks, stand-up comedy, plays for children and theatrical events for both men and women.

“Your Eid is Our Eid” festival comes on the directives of Makkah Emir Prince Mishal Bin Abdullah, Jeddah Governor Prince Mishal Bin Majed and Mayor Hani Aburas and is held in collaboration with a number of governmental and private bodies.

“This comes as a gesture of sharing joy with the residents of Jeddah on this blessed occasion through a number of festive and recreational events and activities,” said Mohammed Al-Yami, official spokesman for “Your Eid is Our Eid” festival and head of social responsibility at Jeddah Municipality.

He said with the participation of six major malls and a number of companies and shopping centers, residents and visitors will find numerous activities such as theatrical events, entrainment programs, fireworks, artistic performance, competitions, games and folklore shows.

He said the festival also aims to bring together the diverse cultures and nationalities residing in or visiting Jeddah to celebrate the occasion with activities designed to cater to all groups and ages.

“Our aim is to position Jeddah as a main destination during Ramadan, Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha and, in the process, contribute to the city’s exciting annual events calendar,” Al-Yami added.

He noted that Jeddah Municipality has taken full responsibility for events and activities catered toward all sections of society, especially families and children of all age groups, in all parts of the province. Held between 5 p.m. and midnight from the first day of Eid until the 5th of Shawwal, the activities cover culture, heritage, entertainment, modified cars and music.

One of the highlights will be festival zones where visitors will be entertained with various shows. The festival zones located on Obhur, Corniche and Old Airport will be ideal spots to explore age-old Saudi traditions.

Children can also look forward to a number of exciting fun activities and shows, including a theatrical play by the famous cartoon characters of Angry Birds. The Angry Birds show will be featured daily at 9:30 p.m. and 10: 30 p.m. at Obhur.

Modified cars and the fireman shows are also added to the list of fun activities.

A highlight of every Eid celebration, fireworks will be held daily at 11:30 p.m. on the Corniche.

Entertainment activities including a variety of folklore and theater shows in addition to contests, acrobatics, sports activities and performances by famous bands will also be hosted by major commercial centers and malls.

Al-Yami added that the municipality has conducted extensive maintenance work to prepare the Jeddah Corniche and other Eid hotspots for the festivities.
