HAIL — A number of private companies in various parts of the country are asking women applying for jobs to submit a recent photograph with face uncovered in order to be considered for employment. Female applicants and their parents expressed resentment at such a requirement and described it as unacceptable as it violates norms and traditions. In addition, parents expressed their apprehension that unscrupulous employees might use the photos for devious purposes. Some women job seekers said such a requirement would force many of them to abandon their search for jobs, leading to an increase in the rate of unemployment among females.
