JEDDAH — Over 60 establishments and organizations from private and public sectors are participating in the 8th annual career fair organized by University of Business & Technology (UBT).

The fair, held under the theme “Education for Job”, was opened Monday by the Undersecretary of Makkah Governorate Iqab Bin Saqr Al-Lwaihq and seeks to provide university students, especially those nearing their graduation, with job opportunities and training programs offered by participating organizations.

The inauguration day witnessed the attendance of UBT faculty members headed by Dr. Abdullah Sadiq Dahlan, chairman of the board of trustees; Hussein Mohamed Ali Al-Alawi, managing director of UBT; and Loay Al-Tayar, dean of students affairs.

The annual career fair hosted 60 major companies from varying fields, including finance and banking, marketing, advertising, management, recruitment, engineering, visual communication, graphic design, public relations and information technology.

Students and visitors were able to interact with company representatives who assisted them in their career planning and professional development while exposing them to the demands and expectations of the Saudi job market.

Key personnel from participating companies also offered workshops for students on a range of career-related topics.

Speaking to Saudi Gazette, Al-Tayar explained how the university was utilizing its capabilities to develop human resources and prepare qualified cadre in addition to forging strong relations with production and service sectors.

He said: “It is a good opportunity to attract young men and women from within the college and beyond who are looking forward to excellent careers in both the public and private sectors.” He announced that the fair is offering around 5,000 jobs.

The career fair is an event that allows students to meet with potential employers to discuss available opportunities. The event offers both an exhibit hall and workshops.
