Jeddah: Tasneem and her sister Rowayda Al-Mezjaji are Saudi painters. They began drawing and painting from the early school stages. They were distinguished and their talent was seen in drawing classes. They attribute their success to their art teacher who discovered their flair and encouraged them at school and their parents at home also paid them particular care in regard to their drawing talent. Their real beginning was in 2003 till they become members at the Society for Culture and Art (GSFT).
Their paintings vary from oil, acrylic or pastel to drawing on the wall or using raw materials for the paintings.
They both believe that an artist should not limit his or her talent to a specific school of art; that’s why they do not follow a particular school. They have explored all schools and found out that each one has its advantages and aesthetics.
Though Tasneem’s style is realistic and effectual, Rowayda’s style is purely realistic.
Both are active painters who participated in several exhibitions and galleries. They participated in “Painting in Every House” exhibition for 3 years in a row from 2011- 2013, In National Day exhibition in House of Artists for 2 years. In 2012 they also participated in Aramco, Old Jeddah, Taif heritage exhibitions.
Talking about inspiration Tasneem said, “Usually we are inspired by a certain subject then, we draw it or even something related to it. Sometimes it is external inspiration whether a happy or even sad situation, in other times it is a place. There are other times when it is internal inspiration which is love of something that pushes me to draw.”
Tasneem and Rowayda always share and exchange a lot of ideas. They call on media to convey their art to connoisseur and the public.
They are hopeful that this year they would be able to hold a joint-exhibition for their paintings and of course to participate in other exhibitions. They wish to serve community through their art and to reach the global status.
