JEDDAH — A three-day conference on asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) wrapped up here on Saturday evening.
The conference, organized by the Saudi Society of Internal Medicine in collaboration with King Abdulaziz University (KAU), the Saudi Thoracic Society and GlaxoSmithKline, hosted 10 of the world renowned experts in the management of asthma and COPD.
The conference gave a unique opportunity to doctors all over the country to gain exposure to the latest research in the management of asthma and COPD. Dr. Ahmad Al-Juhani, head of the organizing committee, said the conference shed light on COPD and bronchial asthma prevalence in the Kingdom.
Dr. Aysha Mehnaz Abdul Ghafoor, an ICU specialist who attended two days of workshops and presentations, said, “The conference presented very exclusive data. Topics were fully covered and the data provided gave us new ideas and further research hypothesis that should be carried out to decrease suffering.”
