RIYADH — Saudi Arabia welcomed on Monday Australia’s announcement of its intention to recognize the State of Palestine, as well as New Zealand’s decision to consider recognizing Palestine.

In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs hailed the growing international consensus in support of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Saudi Arabia emphasized that this critical phase requires peace-loving nations to formally recognize the State of Palestine and actively support efforts to end the prolonged war, particularly in light of Israel’s ongoing violations of international law and humanitarian law.
