Cristiano Ronaldo set to extend Al Nassr stay as he targets 1,000 career goals

Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH —
Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly close to agreeing a new contract with Al Nassr that would see him extend his stay in Saudi Arabia beyond this summer, according to Sky Sports sources.

The 40-year-old Portuguese icon is said to feel at home in the Kingdom and is eager to continue his journey with the Riyadh-based club, which he joined in January 2023.

Ronaldo’s current contract is set to expire at the end of June, but the star forward believes his recent performances, including his goals for Portugal in their UEFA Nations League triumph, are proof he can still compete at the highest level, with an eye on the 2026 FIFA World Cup when he will be 41.

Sources indicate that Ronaldo has turned down offers to feature in the expanded FIFA Club World Cup and, despite hinting last month on social media that he might part ways with Al Nassr, he is now understood to have reached an agreement to renew.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner sees the Saudi Pro League as a league on the rise and remains motivated by an extraordinary personal milestone scoring 1,000 career goals. He currently sits at 938.
