Qatar temporarily closes airspace amid regional tensions

June 23, 2025

DOHA — Qatar announced on Monday the temporary closure of its airspace in response to heightened regional tensions, according to a statement by the Qatari Foreign Ministry posted on X.

The move was described as a precautionary measure “to ensure the safety of residents and visitors,” and comes amid growing fears of retaliation following U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

The closure marks a significant step in regional aviation disruption as Gulf nations ramp up emergency protocols in response to the escalating conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States.

Iran has renewed threats to retaliate against U.S. targets after American forces struck its nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, prompting widespread security measures across the region. — Agencies
