Erdogan, Syrian President hold closed-door meeting in Istanbul

ISTANBUL — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa in Istanbul on Saturday.

The leaders held their talks at the Dolmabahce Presidential Office, where Erdogan formally welcomed al-Sharaa with an official ceremony before proceeding to a closed-door meeting.

Among the high-ranking officials in attendance were Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, National Defense Minister Yasar Guler, intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin, and Haluk Gorgun, head of Türkiye's Defense Industries Secretariat. From the Syrian side, Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and several other officials were present. — Agencies
