NEW YORK — The Saudi Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Wasel underlined the need to put an end to Israeli violations in Syria and the region. Addressing a session on Syria at the United Nations Security Council, Al-Wasel reiterated his country's condemnation of the Israeli incursion into the Syrian territory.

He affirmed Saudi Arabia's support for the aspirations of the Syrian people. "Saudi Arabia and Qatar supported Syria by providing salaries so as to enable the vital government sectors to function," he said.

Saudi Arabia earlier rejected categorically Israeli attacks targeting Syria's sovereignty, security, and stability. It emphasized the need to "put an end to the blatant Israeli violations of international law in Syria and the region."

Saudi Arabia warned that the continuation of these violations and extremist Israeli policies exacerbates the risks of violence, extremism, and regional instability.
