Riyadh Summit sees announcement and exchange of several bilateral agreements

RIYADH — Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, who is also chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, and U.S. President Donald Trump co-chaired the Saudi-U.S. Summit at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Tuesday.

During the summit, the two leaders reviewed bilateral ties and explored ways to further deepen the strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and the United States. They discussed regional and global developments and reiterated their shared commitment to promoting stability and security.

During the summit, Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Donald Trump signed the Strategic Economic Partnership Document between the governments of the two countries.

The Crown Prince and the US President witnessed the announcement and exchange of several bilateral agreements and memoranda of cooperation. These included a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on energy cooperation between the Saudi Ministry of Energy and the U.S. Department of Energy, signed by Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright. A memorandum of intent to modernize and develop Saudi Arabia’s defense capabilities was signed between the Saudi Ministry of Defense and the U.S. Department of Defense, signed by Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman and U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

The agreements also included a letter of intent to complete work and enhance joint cooperation and develop requirements related to ammunition training, support services, maintenance, systems modernization, spare parts, and education for the land and air systems of the Saudi Ministry of the National Guard; a protocol amending the air transport agreement; a memorandum on developing the health capabilities of the Saudi Armed Forces; MoUs for judicial cooperation, cooperation in the fields of mining and mineral resources, and medical research related to infectious diseases.

Both countries also agreed on international partnership programs between the Saudi Ministry of Interior and the Federal Bureau of Investigation at the US Department of Justice; the CubeSat project for space weather monitoring as part of the Artemis II mission, agreements on mutual assistance between the two countries' customs administrations, and cooperation between the Royal Commission for AlUla and the Smithsonian Institution through the National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute and the National Museum of Asian Art.

The signing and exchange of agreements were also attended from the Saudi side by Minister of State and Cabinet Member Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd; Deputy Emir of Riyadh Region Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman; Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal; Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif; Minister of the National Guard Prince Abdullah bin Bandar; Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman; Saudi Ambassador to the United States Princess Reema bint Bandar; and Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Justice Dr. Walid Al-Samaani; Minister of State, Cabinet Member and National Security Advisor Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban; Minister of Commerce Dr. Majed Al-Qasabi; Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan; Minister of Investment Eng. Khalid Al-Falih; Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha; Minister of Health Fahd Al-Jalajel; Governor of the Public Investment Fund Yasir Al-Rumayyan; President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation Abdulaziz Al-Duailej; Governor of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority Eng. Suhail Abanmi; and CEO of the Royal Commission for AlUla Abeer Al-Akel.
