RIYADH — The Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal), in cooperation with the Telegram platform, removed 16,062,667 extremist materials during the first quarter of 2025. In addition, 1,408 channels used by extremist groups were shut down, as part of their joint efforts to counter extremist propaganda, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The collaboration launched between Etidal and Telegram in February 2022 has removed 176,758,457 extremist materials and shut down 16,201 channels by the end of March 2025.
This ongoing cooperation reflects a firm commitment to the continuation of combating extremist rhetoric and striving toward a safer digital environment.
The Riyadh-based Etidal was founded in 2017 as a non-profit organization with the purpose of combating extremism.
