BELGRADE — Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic cut short his visit to the United States and returned to Belgrade after experiencing chest pain and high blood pressure while in Florida, Serbian officials confirmed Saturday.

Vucic reportedly began feeling unwell following meetings with U.S. Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, and members of the Serbian business community.

According to Finance Minister Sinisa Mali, Vucic informed his delegation of his condition and left for Serbia on the first available flight.

Dragan Dincic, Vucic’s longtime cardiologist, said the president had suffered a serious episode but confirmed his condition is now stable. “This time, it was a bit different from previous incidents,” he said.

Mali added that Vucic has been discharged from the hospital and is now resting at home. All of his official engagements have been postponed until further notice. — Agencies
