RIYADH —
Saudi Arabia on Sunday strongly condemned the targeting of vital infrastructure and facilities in the Sudanese cities of Port Sudan and Kassala, warning that such actions threaten regional stability as well as Arab and African national security.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kingdom called for an immediate halt to the conflict in Sudan and urged all parties to spare the Sudanese people further suffering and destruction.

Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its consistent position that the crisis must be resolved through a Sudanese-led political solution that respects the country’s sovereignty and unity and supports the role of national institutions.

The ministry also reiterated the Kingdom’s rejection of such violations, stressing the importance of protecting civilians and upholding the commitments made under the Jeddah Declaration on the Protection of Civilians, signed on May 11, 2023.
