RIYADH Saudi Arabia expressed concern over the continued fighting in Sudan and the escalation of violence against civilians, including women and children. It emphasized that a political solution is the only path to end the crisis in Sudan.

In a statement, carried by the Saudi Press Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Kingdom condemns the recent events in the eastern part of Al-Jazirah State, which resulted in civilian casualties and injuries, constituting a violation of international law and the principle of civilian protection.

The ministry called for the commitment and fulfillment of what was agreed upon in the Jeddah Declaration signed on May 11, 2023, and urged the warring parties to agree to ceasefire, end the conflict, and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected.

The Kingdom renewed its firm position in supporting Sudan’s stability and preserving the unity of its legitimate institutions, sovereignty, and independence.
