RIYADHAttorney General Saud Al-Mojeb stressed that Saudi Arabia attached utmost importance to protecting human rights and strengthening legal guarantees, and has enacted regulations that limit such crimes, most notably human trafficking.

Al-Mojeb explained in his speech on the occasion of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons that the Public Prosecution is implementing several important steps in this regard. These include allocating an independent prosecution office to investigate and prosecute crimes of trafficking in persons, ensuring that protection is provided to victims, imposing penalties on those who contributed to, participated in, or attempted to commit these crimes, and local and international cooperation to combat cross-border trafficking.

He also noted that these efforts come under the directives of the Saudi leadership, which stressed the importance of cooperation between government agencies and raising the efficiency of procedures to protect victims.

These measures have contributed to enhancing community awareness of the seriousness of human trafficking crimes and reducing their spread, Al-Mojeb added.
