MADINAH — The first group of Pakistani pilgrims set off from Karachi on Thursday, embarking on their spiritual journey to Saudi Arabia via the Makkah Route Initiative. Departing from they city's Jinnah International Airport (JIAP), the pilgrims enjoyed a streamlined departure process from a lounge specifically designated for this initiative.

Launched by the Saudi Ministry of Interior, the Makkah Route Initiative is a part of the broader Pilgrim Experience Program under Saudi Vision 2030. This initiative aims to enhance the overall Hajj experience by simplifying the pilgrimage process. It allows pilgrims to complete essential procedures such as electronic visa issuance, biometric data collection, and health requirement verification before leaving their home country.

To ensure a seamless experience, pilgrims' luggage is coded and sorted according to their pre-arranged transportation and accommodation plans in Saudi Arabia. Upon arriving at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, pilgrims are quickly transported by dedicated buses to their accommodations in Makkah and Madinah, where their luggage is delivered directly by service agencies. This initiative underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to improving the Hajj journey, making it more comfortable and organized for all participants.
