Prince Salman bin Sultan inaugurates Madinah Cultures and Peoples festival

MADINAH
— Emir of Madinah Region Prince Salman bin Sultan inaugurated the 12th edition of the Cultures and Peoples' Festival at the Islamic University in Madinah. The event, scheduled to run until May 6, aims to foster unity and understanding among different cultures and promote Islamic values.

During his visit, Prince Salman explored the pavilions representing the participating countries and learned about the festival's objectives, which include enhancing communication and promoting teamwork and peace among nations. The festival also aims to bridge the gap between university students and the local community.

Acting President of the Islamic University Dr. Hassan Al-Oufi highlighted the international influence of the university, noting that it has graduated over 100,000 students from more than 170 countries. These graduates have significantly contributed to the development of their societies and countries. Dr. Al-Oufi emphasized the festival's role in bringing together students from 95 countries to display their diverse cultures, customs, and traditions.

The festival, covering an area of 7,000 square meters, features more than 40 activities and events that cater to families, children, and the broader community. Among the highlighted attractions are celebrations of Saudi Arabian coffee, Arabic poetry, various cuisines, and tea, alongside events marking the Year of the Camel 2024. The festival has entertainment, educational, and cultural corners, offering enriching experiences to the expected turnout of over 100,000 visitors.
