LONDON —
Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Chairman of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC), received the prestigious SportAccord award during the SportAccord Convention in Birmingham, UK.

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, and Robin E. Mitchell, President of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC).

The award was bestowed upon SOPC in recognition of its successful hosting of the UTS World Virtual Youth Festival in 2021, which saw participation from over 100 international organizations and 30,000 children from various countries, and the World Combat Games in Riyadh in 2023, featuring more than 1,500 players from over 120 countries. This marks the first time SOPC has received such an accolade from SportAccord.

Expressing gratitude for the honor, Prince Abdulaziz said the achievements were made possible due to the unwavering support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Prince Abdulaziz also explored exhibitions held alongside the convention, showcasing the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) and the International Camel Racing Federation (ICRF), further emphasizing the Kingdom's active role in the international sports community.

Accompanying the SOPC chairman were Vice President Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed and Secretary General Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Baeshen, who also visited the pavilions of the two federations featured at the exhibition.
