JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia's innovative Media Oasis project, a pioneering initiative by the Ministry of Media, has been selected for nomination at the upcoming United Nations World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2024 Prizes.

This prestigious nomination, in the government media sector category, is a testament to the project's significant impact and the Kingdom's advancing position in the global information society.

Just a year after its launch in 2023, Media Oasis stands out among over a thousand projects vying for this year's accolade.

The selection of Media Oasis by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) not only highlights its excellence but also marks it as the sole government representative from the Kingdom in the media sector category.

This reflects the concerted efforts between the Ministry of Media and its partners across government and private sectors, showcasing the Kingdom's major national transformation projects to the world.

Media Oasis has rapidly gained both local and international recognition, aligning with Saudi Arabia's active participation in global events and hosting of several key international and regional conferences.

The project's journey began with its first edition during the 32nd Arab Summit in Jeddah, followed by its presence at the annual Grand Hajj Symposium, and further editions in New Delhi, Diriyah, and alongside the 173rd General Assembly meeting for Expo 2030 host country selection.

Providing a dedicated platform for media coverage of significant events, Media Oasis has facilitated the work of local and international media, offering a unique vantage point on the Kingdom's pivotal national projects.

Over its five editions, the project welcomed more than 9,800 guests, received coverage by over 455 media outlets, and supported over 2,600 journalists from more than 70 countries in publishing over 440 news articles.

Additionally, over 380 presenters from more than 65 government entities participated, underscoring the initiative's broad engagement and impact.
