RIYADH — The Saudi Foreign Ministry has welcomed the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) initial ruling, which addresses alleged genocidal practices and statements against Palestinians in Gaza.

The Ministry supports the decision and condemns Israeli occupation practices, as well as violations of the Genocide Convention.

The Ministry also commended South Africa for initiating the lawsuit and urged the international community to intensify efforts to end violence in Gaza, protect Palestinians, and hold Israel accountable for alleged violations of international and humanitarian law.

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Al- Budaiwi stated that the ICJ ruling underscores alleged Israeli crimes in Gaza.

He praised the Hague-based court for its detailed documentation and stressed the need for international intervention to enforce Israel's compliance with the ruling.

Al-Budaiwi highlighted that the verdict aligns with international laws protecting civilians, citing Israel's alleged targeting of civilian infrastructures in Gaza.

The Muslim World League (MWL) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also welcomed the ICJ's ruling.

Both organizations emphasized the importance of ongoing international efforts to halt the conflict in Gaza, protect civilians, and ensure humanitarian aid delivery.

The OIC called for a complete halt to alleged Israeli military aggression and acts of genocide, displacement, and destruction across Palestinian territories.

It also thanked South Africa for bringing the case to the ICJ.
