JEDDAH — In a landmark event showcasing global solidarity against bias and misinformation surrounding the Palestinian cause, the Muslim World League (MWL), in collaboration with the Union of Islamic News Agencies and major international news outlets, convened at the International Media Forum: “The Role of Media in Inciting Hatred and Violence: The Risks of Bias and Misinformation.”
The forum, inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Mohammad Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, secretary general of the Muslim World League and chairman of the International Body of Muslim Scholars, drew the participation of ministers, Islamic and international media leaders, ambassadors, religious figures, intellectuals, and human rights advocates.
This significant gathering, a testament to the close partnership between the Muslim World League and the Union of OIC News Agencies, aligns with their common goals.
Sheikh Al-Issa, speaking on behalf of scholars and intellectuals within the framework of MWL, expressed profound appreciation for the substantial efforts in support of the Palestinian cause.
He commended the unwavering stance against the crimes in Gaza, particularly the historic summits led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The forum unfolds amid urgent international circumstances marked by escalating hate speech and acts of violence.
With representation from over 80 countries, including senior religious, intellectual, media, and diplomatic leaders, the forum seeks to forge a diverse and collective consensus against misinformation and bias in media discourse.
This discourse often distorts facts, blurring the lines between victim and criminal, and oppressor and oppressed.
