JEDDAH — Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid, vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, and ruler of Dubai, revealed that Dr. Hani Najm from Saudi Arabia has been awarded the prestigious “Great Arab Minds” accolade in the field of medicine.

This recognition serves as a tribute to Dr. Najm’s exceptional contributions to pediatric and adult cardiac surgery, highlighting his groundbreaking surgical innovations in the treatment of congenital heart diseases.

Dr. Najm’s expertise extends to congenital heart surgery, where he played a pivotal role in the design and development of a flexible, growth-compatible heart valve implanted within a child’s body.

This innovative approach adapts to the child’s growth over the years, sparing numerous infants and children from the challenges and risks associated with multiple surgical procedures.

With an impressive track record, Dr. Najm has actively participated in over 10,000 surgical operations, addressing the needs of newborns, children, and adults with heart diseases, particularly managing complex and critical cases.

Currently, Dr. Najm holds a leadership position as the head of the Department of Pediatric and Adult Cardiac Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, United States.

The ‘Great Arab Minds’ award celebrates outstanding creative minds in the Arab world, recognizing their impactful achievements that have made substantial and positive differences.
