RIYADH — The Special Forces for Environmental Security managed to catch a lion on loose in a Riyadh city neighborhood. The forces have swung into action after receiving a notification from citizens after spotting the lion.

According to reports, the Special Forces took urgent action and neutralized the threat of the lion and handed it over to the competent wildlife authority.

The Special Forces stated that trading in endangered wild animals including keeping them in possession is prohibited under the provisions of the Environment Law, and its penalty involves 10 years in prison or a maximum fine of SR30 million or of both.

The Special Forces urged the public to report about any cases of assault on the environment or wildlife by calling over the number 911 in the regions of Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, and over the numbers 999 and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom’s regions.
