Give way to ambulances: Red Crescent app monitoring violations

March 27, 2023

Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The Saudi Red Crescent Authority, in cooperation with the General Traffic Department, announced the launch of an app for automatic monitoring and recording of violations related to causing obstruction to the movement of ambulances by not giving way to them.

The monitoring by the app came into effect on Sunday, March 26, and it will also record among other violations motorists following the path of ambulances rushing to their destinations,

The launching of the app aims to preserve lives, enhance traffic safety and raise the percentage of drivers’ compliance with the specific lanes. This contributes to raising the quality and efficiency of ambulance services.

The launch of the application comes after implementing an awareness campaign in early February under the slogan “Make the Way for”.

The campaign was carried out through social media platforms with the aim of educating the community on the importance of cooperation and making the way for ambulances to help save lives, given that their passage is a priority and saving a minute may save a life.

The authority identified violations that will be monitored automatically, saying these include obstructing the movement of ambulances, or tracking the ambulance, while underlining the need for cooperation of all road users and their contribution to save human lives.
