ALGIERS — Speaker of the Arab Parliament Adel Al-Assoumi confirmed his organization's rejection and denunciation of the Israeli procative practices against the Palestinian people in the occupied territories.

In an opening speech of the 17th conference of the Parliementary Union of the member states of the Organization of Islami Cooperation (OIC) being held in Algiers, Al-Assoumi lashed out at the Israeli occupation for its flagrant challenge to the world community who, he said, should shoulder its full responsibility and provide protection for Palestinians in the occupied territories.

Furthermore, he drew the attention that the Arab world possesses huge developmental force which, if properly exploited, could change the balance of power in the entire world of today to the benefit of both the Arab and Islamic peoples.

In particular, parliamentarians could play a key role in this regard, he concluded. — SPA
