Nazaha investigates 307 accused; arrests 142 involved in bribery, money laundering cases

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) announced that it had investigated 307 defendants and arrested 142 of them because of their involvement in several cases.

Nazaha’s announcement came after handling a number of criminal and administrative cases during the month of Jumada Al-Akhirah 1444 AH,

through which it conducted 2,364 control tours.

The most prominent crimes for which the defendants were arrested are: financial and administrative corruption crimes in cases of bribery, abuse of influence, money laundering and forgery.

Nazaha said that the detainees belong to several ministries here, namely: the Ministries of Interior; Defense; National Guard; Energy; Justice; Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing.

Moreover, some of them were from the ministries of Education; Health; and Environment, Water and Agriculture, in addition to the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority and the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority.

It is worth mentioning that Nazaha said that 142 of the detainees have been released on bail.
