Saudi Fashion Commission launches application process for costume design course

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's Fashion Commission has announced the launch of the application process to join the costume design program.

The program will be held from January until March 2023 in Jeddah. It will train Saudi fashion designers and develop their skills in designing costumes and theatrical wear to become professionals.

The program also seeks to offer the participants with historical and cultural awareness, and to provide them with practical, technical and technological skills for research and design, in addition to creating costumes for cinema and theater.

The program will sharpen the skills of 15 Saudis through practical and theoretical training in the manufacture of custom clothing and accessories. The specialized curricula in fashion and textiles cover design and production techniques, Photoshop and cutting patterns that contribute to strengthening cultural talent and experience.

The training modules include various topics, such as fashion; the history of Saudi fashion, accessories; design techniques; textiles, sewing, Photoshop and many more.

The commission has set several criteria for eligible participants. The applicant must be Saudi, not less than 22 years old, and fluent in English. The successful applicant must also pass a personal interview.

Moreover, the applicant must be able to attend the training program in Jeddah. Having aptitude, basic qualification or practical experience in the field of costume designing and fashion in general is desirable.
