DOHA — Brazil have kept their top spot in the FIFA ranking, while the 2022 world champions Argentina have been elevated to the second spot.

Following the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, FIFA updated the ranking list on Thursday.

World Cup's record holders Brazil are still leading the ranking with 1840.77 points. Brazil were eliminated by Croatia in the quarterfinals in Qatar 2022.

World champions Argentina now have 1838.38 points to climb to second place. Lionel-Messi led Argentina won the 2022 World Cup, beating former champions France 4-2 on penalties.

This was Argentina's first World Cup success since 1986.

In the ranking, France, who were the 1998 and 2018 world champions, are third with 1823.39 points.

Morocco, who had an inspirational run in Qatar 2022, are now 11th with 1672.35 points. The African team were previously 22nd in October.

Morocco finished the World Cup in fourth place as Croatia beat the Atlas Lions 2-1 in the bronze medal match.

Croatia are seventh with 1727.62 points. They were 12th in October's ranking. — Agencies
