RIYADH — Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki appointed on Thursday Adwa Al-Arifi as assistant minister for sports affairs.

Al-Arifi expressed her thanks and gratitude to the minister for his trust.

Al-Arifi served recently as undersecretary of planning and development at the Ministry of Sports. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Al-Yamamah University in Riyadh in 2011.

Al-Arifi is a well-known figure in the development of women's sports in the Kingdom, with vast expertise in community sports. She had a passion for football from a young age when she used to watch matches enthusiastically.

In 2019, Al-Arifi joined the Ministry of Sports as an investment director. She was nominated to become a member of the Saudi Olympics Council by the Saudi Olympic Committee. In December 2019, she became a board member.

Al-Arifi also joined the Saudi Football Association. She worked as a member of the Saudi Football Federation's Committee for Social Responsibility and Public Participation, and she became the first woman to chair a committee in the federation after being named head of the "Social Responsibility Committee".
