Chinese President Xi arrives in Saudi Arabia on official visit

RIYADH Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday, starting a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia.

Upon arrival at King Khalid International Airport, he was received by Emir of Riyadh Prince Faisal bin Bandar and Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan. Those who attended the reception ceremony at the airport also included Public Investment Fund Governor Yasser Al-Rumayyan, who is the accompanying minister, Saudi Ambassador to China Abdul Rahman Al-Harbi, and Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Chen Weiqing.

Chinese President Xi’s official visit comes in response to an invitation from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman. During the visit, Xi will hold wide-ranging talks with King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

Saudi Arabia and China are expected to sign more than 20 agreements, worth over SR110 billion during the visit. Xi will also attend three key summits - the Saudi-Chinese summit; Riyadh Gulf-China Summit for Cooperation and Development; and Riyadh Arab-China Summit for Cooperation and Development.
