Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH An official source at the Public Prosecution stated that its wing for assaulting persons has initiated an investigation into charges against an expatriate who impersonated a health practitioner in violation of the provisions of the Law of Practicing Healthcare Professions.

It was revealed in investigations that the man posted false medical information through social media and delivered a lecture in a hotel on the basis of his claims. The man claimed that he is providing medical consultations though he does neither have any academic qualification in the medical specialty nor possess any legal document to practice medical practice from the competent authorities. It was found that he is not authorized to perform health practices or to provide a medical opinion to patients.

The source stressed its keenness to protect society from such illegal medical practices, and protect public health and safety of individuals, in accordance with the provisions of the Law of Practicing Healthcare Professions.

The source stressed that impersonation of any health professions, or using advertising means in this regard, without obtaining a license from the competent authority, is prohibited and the violators shall face stringent punitive measures.
