Cat Walk event for raising awareness of Arabian leopard protection launched in Madinah

MADINAH — The event of "Cat Walk", organized by the Municipality of Madinah Region, was launched to raise awareness of the importance of conserving the wild cats and Arabian leopard from extinction.

The event was launched in the heritage district of King Fahd Park here Saturday with the participation of a number of security and service agencies and more than 3,000 male and female volunteers.

Participants from different segments of society in the event walked a distance of 7 kilometers to support the campaign, which is concerned with the protection of 40 species of wild cats that are endangered, the most prominent of which is the Arabian leopard.

The "Cat Walk" initiative aims to achieve the targets of rehabilitating ecosystems by encouraging members of the community to practice outdoor walking.

The initiative contributes to benefit from outdoor sports and its importance on physical and psychological health. It is worth mentioning that the "Catwalk" initiative is an awareness march held annually. — SPA
