RIYADH — The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) confirmed that the Saudi market is free of the dry shampoo that Unilever has withdrawn. Unilever has pulled the brands of Dove, TRESemmé, TIGI, Nexxus, Suave of dry shampoo.

Unilever, the company that owns the mentioned brands, has withdrawn certain batches numbers of products from the US and Canadian markets due to potentially elevated levels of benzene, which is banned in the cosmetic industry.

SFDA said that it had monitored the recall issued by Unilever for several batches of dry shampoo products that were manufactured before the date of October 2021 in the form of a pressurized spray bottle of the mentioned brands.

It also confirmed that, in cooperation with the companies that manufacture and import the products, they have verified that the local markets are free of these products.

SAFDA warned consumers not to use these products if they find them from other sources. It has invited everyone to view the details of the products that were withdrawn on the following links:

It also noted that it continues to work hard to ensure the safety of materials in the products traded in the local markets and that they are free of any harmful substances.

It stressed that it takes all legal measures in the event that the results of laboratory analysis prove the existence of a product that may pose a danger to the consumers' health.
