RIYADH — Police in Riyadh have arrested a gang of expatriates accused of robbing bank customers at gunpoint, the Ministry of Interior has announced.

The ministry said the arrested men were of different nationalities — Ethiopian, Syrian and Bangladeshi. Five of the Ethiopians had sneaked into the country violating the country’s borders.

The 5 Ethiopians looted the bank customers at gunpoint and stole all the money they had.

The ministry said police also arrested four people of Ethiopian and Syrian nationalities and two Bangladeshi residents for harboring the perpetrators and providing them with SIM cards.

The arrested men used four stolen vehicles, the ministry said, confirming that the cars were recovered.

Additionally, the ministry seized from the suspects 387 SIM cards and weapons.

The police referred the men to the Public Prosecution after taking preliminary legal measures against them.
