JEDDAH — The first batch of the pilgrims who benefited from Makkah Route Initiative from the Kingdom of Morocco arrived at King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah Sunday.

At KAIA, they were received by Moroccan Consul General in Jeddah Ibrahim Ajouli and Director of passports at KAIA, Col. Suleiman Mohammed Al-Yusuf and representatives of the executive agencies of the initiative.

The launch of the Makkah Route initiative in the Kingdom of Morocco for the first time this year's Hajj season 2022, in addition to the countries of Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan and Bangladesh, comes as a continuation of the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in facilitating the procedures of pilgrims as well as its keenness on taking care of their affairs.

Makkah Route Initiative is one of the programs of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and aims to complete the procedures for the pilgrims inside their countries.

It starts with issuing the visa electronically and taking biological characteristics, and the completion of passport procedures at the airport of the country of departure after verifying the availability of health requirements, in addition to the luggage coding and sorting according to transportation and housing arrangements in the Kingdom.

Upon their arrival, they move directly to buses to take them to their places of residence in Makkah and Madinah, with designated paths, while the service agencies deliver their luggage to their places of residence. — SPA
