JEDDAH — The first batch of pilgrims benefiting from the Makkah Route Initiative from Indonesia Sunday arrived at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah through the initiative terminal at Jakarta International Airport.

The pilgrims were received by representatives of institutions implementing the initiative at the Jakarta International Airport.

Launching the Makkah Route Initiative in Indonesia — in addition to Malaysia, Pakistan, Morocco and Bangladesh — for the 1443 Hijri year is part of Saudi Arabia's continuous efforts to facilitate procedures for pilgrims and the wise leadership's keenness to care for pilgrims and their affairs.

Makkah Route Initiative is one of the programs of the Kingdom Vision 2030 and aims to complete the procedures for the pilgrims from their countries.

The initiative starts with issuing the visa electronically and taking the fingerprint, and the completion of passport procedures at the airport of the country of departure after verifying the availability of health requirements, in addition to the luggage coding and sorting according to transportation and housing arrangements in the Kingdom.

Upon their arrival, they move directly to buses to take them to their places of residence in Makkah and Madinah, with designated paths, while the service agencies deliver their luggage to their place of residence. — SPA
