RIYADH
— The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has clarified that the employees and students who are on scholarships abroad are exempted from customs duties.

ZATCA confirmed that it would exempt employees and students from customs duties that are imposed on their personal and used belongings that they bring with them from abroad after the end of their scholarship period.

The employee and the student after the completion of their scholarship will also be excluded from the vehicle age condition only, as the customs system requires that the model of the used vehicle must be no more than 5 years old when imported into the Kingdom.

With regard to the vehicle age exception, ZATCA stipulated that the age of the vehicle at the time of its purchase should not exceed 5 years, or that the date of its purchase was before the prevention system was applied, that is, before the date of 6/15/1430 AH.

ZATCA noted that the rest of the vehicle import requirements for individuals would be applied on the employees and students.
