BAGHDAD — Iraqi Prime Minster Mustafa Al-Kadhimi warned on Saturday that he would wipe out the remnants of the so-called Islamic State, better known as Daesh, in the country.

Al-Kadhimi made the warning while overseeing the launching of a new security operation against Daesh militants in Anbar Governorate, the Iraqi prime minister's office said in a press statement.

"Al-Kadhimi arrived in Anbar to supervise the launch of Operations of Solid Will - The Second Phase to pursue the remnants of ISIS terrorist gangs in the west of the country," it said.

It quoted the prime minister as saying that Iraqi security forces make victories over the organization on a daily basis, and that Daesh would eventually lose the battle.

In a separate statement, Iraq's security media office said the commanders of the military operations of Anbar, Al-Jazeera and Karbala, and the forces of the Border Guard Command and the Popular Mobilization Forces in western Anbar and the middle Euphrates, are participating in the second stage of Operation Solid Will.

Forces from the Counter-Terrorism Service, the Special Forces, the Rapid Response Division, the special missions in the Federal Police and other military units are carrying out specific operations towards specific targets in different areas, it added. — Agencies
