ISLAMABAD — A massive explosion occurred in the northern Pakistani city of Sialkot on Sunday, reported media. The sound of the explosion was reportedly heard near the cantonment area in the Punjab province.
The cause of the blast is unknown, however, it is believed that a fire broke out in an ammunition storage area, leading to a massive blast in the region.
"Pakistan — Multiple explosions at the Sialkot military base in northern Pakistan. Initial indications are this is an ammunition storage area. A large fire is burning. Cause as yet unverified," read a tweet by Rishi Suri, editor of The Daily Milap.
Several people have also posted videos of the incident, with many alleging that multiple explosions occurred in the area.
According to initial reports, an "unidentified object" struck a Pakistan Army ammunition store in Sialkot, which triggered a massive fire and multiple explosions were heard.
No loss has been reported so far after an accidental fire broke out at a garrison in Sialkot in Pakistan’s Punjab province Sunday, ARY News reported quoting the country military spokesperson.
