RIYADH — Five Saudi riders will participate in the second edition of the desert polo championship in AlUla, which will be held for two days beginning February 11 at Al-Fursan Village Stadium.

The Saudi knights are represented by Prince Salman Bin Sultan Bin Salman, Prince Abdul Rahman Bin Faisal, Prince Salman Bin Mansour and Prince Sultan Bin Khaled Al-Faisal, as well as Nour Abu Khadra, one of the promising players in the Green Jets team.

The five knights will join the international stars of the game from the Argentina-based La Dolfina team, including Pablo Mac Donough, David Stirling (Pelón) and Juan Martin Nero, and led by their founder Adolfo Cambiaso.

The Saudi Knights team, in preparation for the tournament, had concluded its intensive training camp in Riyadh at the Saudi Polo Federation Academy Stadium under the supervision of famous coach Santiago Novillo Astrada from Argentina Polo Academy.

Amr Zedan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Polo Federation, described the participation of the Saudi riders as a valuable opportunity to gain experience and come in contact with the best polo riders in the world, in addition to the event being a launching pad for the future of this sport in the Kingdom.

Zedan said: "The world will witness the Kingdom's original equestrian heritage and the participation of the most skilled players in the sport of polo,” he added. “We will continue to achieve the goals of the Saudi Polo Federation in line with the strategy of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC) to make the Kingdom a global leader in polo.”

In turn, Prince Salman Bin Mansour said: "I fell in love with polo since I was 11 years old and now my dream has come true as I will ride alongside my colleagues against the best players in the world, and I hope to make my country proud."

Polo and horse-riding enthusiasts can watch the game live on AlUla Moments’ YouTube channels.
