RAFHA — The Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Royal Reserve has announced the beginning of the initial division process of the reserve, to redevelop and register it internationally at the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Work is picking pace to organize daily entry excluding permanent camping until the end of 2022 or the beginning of next year to give hiking opportunity for all.

The Executive Director of the Reserve Eng. Mohammed Al-Shaalan said as per preliminary studies, the reserve contains more than 74 species of diverse wild creatures.

This is in addition to the resettlement of three species; the Goitered gazelle, the oryx, and the ostrich, stressing that predators such as tigers, and the Arabian wolves will be resettled in the reserve soon to achieve ecological balance.

Al-Shaalan underlined that the reserve is home to more than 120 species of plants, adding that the reserve’s implementation of a protection period over the past years has contributed to preserving these plants and led to their re-thriving and re-entanglement. — SPA
