Saudi Arabia to form special committee to support localization of energy sector

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia is set to form a special committee to support the localization of the energy sector in the Kingdom, Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman said.

The committee will be formed under the shadow of the Supreme Committee for Energy Mix Affairs for Electricity Production and Empowerment of Renewable Energy sector headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prince Abdulaziz stated during the iktva 2022 Forum & Exhibition.

The iktva 2022 Forum & Exhibition is the Saudi Aramco's principal engagement with the company's valued suppliers that was inaugurated on Monday.

Prince Abdulaziz confirmed that the specified committee aims to achieve enhanced cooperation between various concerned authorities.

During his speech, Prince Abdulaziz stated that the Kingdom's comprehensive and joint approach contributed and helped to overcome the challenges of large national projects such as the Saudi Program for Energy Efficiency, Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) Initiative and the Solidarity of the electricity sector.

The same approach will be applied to current projects in the Kingdom, such as the National Program of Replacing Petroleum Liquids

The program is one of the National Renewable Energy program through which Saudi Arabia will save about one million barrels of crude oil per day.
