First social club for elderly to be established in Eastern Region

DAMMAM — The Eastern Region Municipality announced that they are working on establishing the first social club for the elderly in Saudi Arabia.

During an interview with Al Ekhbariya TV channel on Friday, the official spokesman for the Eastern Region Municipality Muhammad Al-Sofian said that the move comes in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

It also comes as an extension of the group’s qualitative, distinctive and pioneering investment projects launched in the region in partnership with the private sector.

The project includes the development of entertainment and tourism centers, squares, and a range of support services, including cafes, restaurants, sports games, public squares, and open, multi-use views.

These projects will have a positive impact on the quality of life for residents and visitors of the Eastern Province, and more necessary the elderly and their families.

The club’s main mission is to enable and support older men and women to engage in activities and events in line with the directions of Vision 2030 and enhance entertainment and tourism activities in the region.

Additionally, it aims to accelerate the pace of development, achieve financial sustainability, raise revenues and improve services provided to residents and visitors to the region.

It would also develop the trust’s investments in partnership with government agencies and investors.

The Eastern Municipality called on investors and entrepreneurs to participate in the investment industry and visit the municipal investment portal and the smart phone application Furas to get the list of opportunities and the transparent rules of participation.
