RIYADH — The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) has signed an Advanced Strategic Partnership with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) with the aim of enhancing the important role of intellectual property in developing the economy and promoting innovation and technical transformation.

The partnership was signed by CEO of SAIP, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Swailem, and the Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, Dr. Kim Yong Rae, in the presence of President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea, within the work of the Saudi-Korean Investment Forum.

The Advanced Strategic Partnership aims to develop the bilateral partnership in the field of intellectual property through the implementation of bilateral cooperation activities and programs within 5 areas (Development of the IP Environment, Patent Examination, National IP Strategy, IP Academy, IP Information)

It is worth noting that the Advanced Strategic Partnership comes as an extension of the strategic partnership between the two sides, as the first memorandum of understanding was signed in 2018. — SPA
