Cabinet welcomes UN-facilitated Sudan dialogue initiative

RIYADH — The Cabinet, chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, prime minister, reiterated Saudi Arabia’s welcome to the UN-facilitated, Sudanese-led dialogue initiative as well as its support for everything that would contribute to the unity, security, stability and development in the Republic of Sudan. During the virtual session on Tuesday.

At the outset of the session, the Cabinet was briefed on the contents of the recent meetings and talks that took place with the aim of developing relations, building bridges of cooperation and advancing the cooperation with a number of countries of the world in different fields to serve common interests and efforts aiming to achieve international peace and security.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Acting Minister of Media Dr. Majid Bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi said that the Cabinet reviewed a number of reports on events and their developments at both regional and global levels.

The Cabinet also touched on Saudi Arabia’s keenness on achieving security and stability in the Republic of Yemen and ending the human suffering of the Yemeni people, in addition to efforts being exerted by the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen in this regard.

These efforts aim to neutralize the threat in the region and secure maritime traffic and global trade in light of the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia's ongoing violations of international humanitarian law and the laws regulating navigation.

The Cabinet was briefed on a number of issues on its agenda and issued the following decisions:

It approved amending Article 7 of the frame agreement to establish the International Solar Alliance, and also approved a memorandum of understanding on political consultations between the Foreign Ministry and its Norwegian counterpart.

It okayed Saudi Arabia's accession to the Global Ocean Alliance and authorized the Foreign Ministry to proceed with legal procedures. It also approved a MoU between the World Tourism Organization and the Ministry of to establish an international academy.

It authorized the president of the Human Rights Commission to hold talks with the Qatari side on a draft memorandum of understanding on combating human trafficking crimes.

It approved the chairman of the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology to hold talks with the Ukrainian side on a draft agreement between the government of Saudi Arabia and the Ukrainian government in the fields of science, technology and innovation.

The Cabinet changed the National Center for Palms and Dates affiliated with the Federation of Saudi Commercial Chambers into a center that is organizationally connected to the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and approving the regulatory arrangements of the center. — SPA
