GDNC thwarts attempt to smuggle 1,070,000 amphetamine pills

RIYADH The General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) thwarted an attempt to smuggle and promote 1,070,000 Amphetamine pills, which were smuggled into Saudi Arabia by hiding them in coffee packages.

The Spokesperson of GDNC Major Ahmad Al-Najidi said on Wednesday that security follow ups on networks of drug smuggling and promotion that target the security of the Kingdom and its youth. The attempt was thwarted in coordination with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.

The six recipients were arrested in Dammam, including four citizens and two Yemenis, and preliminary legal measures have been taken against them and duly referred to the public prosecution. — SPA
